Study Area Map

This is a map of the Tittabawassee River Project. Tissue, dietary and productivity data for each receptor have been collected in reference areas of the Tittabawassee River upstream of the city of Midland, Michigan, to Sanford, Michigan, and the Pine and Chippewa rivers including the Chippewa Nature Center. Data also have been collected from study areas on the Tittabawassee River downstream of the city of Midland, MI, including Tittabawassee Township Park, Freeland Festival Park, Imerman Park, and the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, to the Saginaw River. Other reference and study areas included locations on the Shiawassee and Saginaw rivers, respectively. The purple dots on the map denote areas where terrestrial and aquatic dietary items were collected with the exception of Veteran’s Memorial Park (VM Park) where only aquatic dietary samples were collected. Tissue and productivity data were also collected at most of these locations as well as nearly 100 private residences and businesses throughout the Tittabawassee River floodplain.
